GAGEL'S GREENHOUSE TOMATOES
Greenhouse tomatoes like the ones grown here at Gagel's are pretty scarce anymore.
When you see a "hot house tomato" in a grocery store, it usually means just that -- grown in a (too) hot house, picked green, and shipped to market. The result is generally
tastless, mushy, and honestly not very good.
Not here! Gagels' tomatoes are grown with taste in mind. The plants grow directly in the ground inside houses that take advantage of natural ventilation. With these houses, we are able to maintain heat at night and
allow the house to cool off naturally during the day.
We generally produce 2-3 crops a year as well as a summer field crop. Gagels' greenhouse tomatoes are thin skined, small cored, disease resistant, heavy yeilding, and of course -- great tasting!
We fertilize well and wait until the fruit is truely vine ripened before harvesting. Tomatoes are available both by the pound and by the 8-10 lb basket (see below). Depending on the time of year, sometimes they are also available by the bushel basket.
